How to Write Resumes

How to make a correct CV Correct CV will facilitate a hard search of a good job. CV should be short, easy to read, but contain all the information about your advantages, that will help you to be effective on your new post. Remember that majority of the CV’s are quickly looked through, so you should cause an interest, emphasizing all the important points. Besides, the ability to make a short CV will have a positive effect, if you look for a job through the newspaper or Internet.

Where to begin?

CV shouldn’t exceed one page and you have to stay within these limits even if you have a large experience and other achievements. You should enumerate only the most important points, and the details can be revealed during the interview.
First of all, indicate your full name.
It is recommended to state the position you want to get. It is advisable that the wording is exactly the same as in the advertisement. Such wording as “looking for an interesting job” can’t be effective.
Then education or experience is usually stated. In every situation the order of these points depends on you. The main is that having read the CV, a person will know whether you have the necessary skills and knowledge. The only detail is – everything should be stated in reverse chronological order. And if it’s about your experience, don’t describe more then 10 years. Don’t confuse CV with autobiography.

Education

When you note your education, everything should be stated clearly. First, indicate only those educational institutions, which are relevant for this post. Second, learn to present information correctly. For example, if you want to work as a legal expert and you studied economic law in Kiev Economy and Management University, don’t give too much information. It’s enough to write the abbreviation (KEMU 2001-2006; economic law).

Experience

The same is about experience. You should pay attention only to those previously occupied positions, which allowed you to get the experience and skills necessary in this sphere. Simple copy of your work-book is not a good variant for CV. It is also recommended to write about your official duties on every post, when you state the post and the years you worked there. And again, you should indicate only those duties that are connected with the occupied post. CV is a description of specialist’s advantages, not the work of art. If you want to emphasize your personality and superiority, you should mention your achievements and innovations in this sphere.

Personal qualities and skills

Then as a small item in the CV goes the description of your additional skills. Usually, these are the knowledge of computer, foreign languages, presence of driving license. What errors should you avoid? For example, don’t focus attention on the knowledge of foreign language, if you finished only short-term courses. Only advantages are clearly stated in CV: if it’s a foreign language – the level of knowledge; computer – the programs you know, typing speed, etc.; driving license – the categories. As an addition it is advisable to describe your personal qualities, but without exaggeration. State the presence of recommendations from the previous jobs, if you have them.
One delicate moment – description of your disadvantages. It of course means that you can fairly evaluate your abilities, but you shouldn’t state them in CV. It is better to tell about them during the interview, but only if you were asked.

As a conclusion of the CV you state you contact information. If you state the level of salary, you want, you’ll show yourself as a person who knows what he wants and protect yourself from undesirable offers.

If you are not sure, whether you can make a correct CV yourself, you can ask for a help. For example, if you are searching for a job through employment agency, some of them have such service. But usually, if you have some experience in job search and you have clear vision of your requirements, then it won’t be a problem to make a CV. The main is to find a “golden middle” describing your personality as a specialist.
